Chipettes by Kairu-Hakubi Chipettes by Kairu-Hakubi
Remember the 80s Chipmunks? I sure as hell don't. But someone commissioned the girls as seen in that one movie. They had a big musical number. There were snakes involved.
Yayyy commissions

Nice work! :D (Big Grin)

I loved this movie when I was little. I think it still holds up as well.

Nice work. Nowadays is less common to find newer works about The Chipettes... So is nicey to find there are still fans asking for commisions about them, and remembering how great them were.

Greetings.

I'm not that big a Chipmunks fan, but I actually do remember the movie.

Watching that movie as a kid was basically learning what fanservice titilation is, without knowing what it's called. :P And people say 80's American entertainment was blissful and wholesome.

Love the detail with which you drew the classic, dare I say iconic, belly dancer outfits and their ultra tempting poses, especially Jeanette's! :D Faved for that, and for some weird vestiges of nostalgia towards a movie from a franchise I don't care about. :P

I could learn 3 words with this franchise before they were a thing: Idol, Loli and Fanservice :-P
Nah, seriously... Old cartoon was full of double meanings and hidden stuff only adults and tainted minds could get right (was fun btw). Were the golden times, when there was no lame political correction and the world wasn't full of snowflakes.
I miss them so much :-(

Btw, the movie if i remember well is available as BD, and digital stream, an accurate conversion with the original Dolby Surround 5.1 it had at theaters, so you can enjoy if you want.

Well Idol, Loli and Fanservice were already a thing in Japan, we just didn't know it yet as kids. But yes, this movie is definitely a crash course in those. ;)

Cool to know about the BD.

Right? I daresay anything drawn in this sort of pseudo-disney STYLE is automatically inherently nostalgic. Something about it.. something we imprinted on.

Definitely is for me at least. Having been born in 1986 I basically grew up on watching movies in that style.

yeah man
although yknow, the new cgi shit actually LOOKS nice. Especially after like 10-15 years of ugly, gross CG designs everywhere.

You mean for the newest Chipmunks show on Nickelodeon, or for animation in general? Yeah the designs look good. CG animation has certainly improved, especially over the last 5-10 years. Beyond that, I can't really say much about the comedy or writing, since I only watched like 1-2 episodes of the new show, and not in full. Seemed like pretty standard tween sitcom fare.

But yeah, I've warmed up to CG, too.

I mostly meant the live action movies, though the new show looks better than the old cartoon, it's still kinda weird. they're both utterly brainless, but gotta judge the visuals on their own merit.
What's weird is the 60s chipmunks were stupidlooking AND really dumb, but somehow funny.

Ah understood. I steered clear from those live-action movies. But yeah, CG for the Munks looked convincing, judging just on snippets.

I used to love that movie! Little awkward showing a bunch of under 12 year old girls singing about "getting lucky" though :XD:

Why? Anime/manga does it all the time and is good :-P.

Yeah they are and for me finding those hidden things when I go back to those movies as an adult was weird. Never said it was a problem. In fact, I find it pretty funny. Just odd to realize the subtle adult humor in stuff I watched as a kid.

It's funny how showtunes used to be considered this overly wholesome thing to just surround kids with
I guess they quite rightly figured that if the kids dont see anything bad in it, then nothing bad exists.

Yeah. I don’t have a problem with it but it’s weird to find my innocent childhood films weren’t as innocent as I remembered them XD
